How do I schedule my appointment?
Appointments can be scheduled in three different ways: (a) you can call us; (b) you can email us; or (c) you can use the online scheduling system. The preferred method is the online system, because it gives you full control of the process. You can select a day and time, at your own pace, at any time of day or night. You can also reschedule your appointment, or cancel it if you have to. If you call me and I do not answer right away, it is because I am either in class, or assisting a client. Leave me a brief message, and I will respond as soon as possible. Appointments for the same day have to be booked at least 2 hours in advance.
What does NMT treat?
NMT helps to treat a whole host of muscular problems: tension headaches, shoulder and rotator cuff problems (frozen shoulder), tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, runner's knee, plantar fasciitis, shin splints, carpal tunnel, tight hamstrings, and general muscle tightness.
What should I expect from my first session?
NMT session is targeted, and it deals directly with the affected area. There are no oils involved and you can keep your comfortable clothes on. We'll have an initial evaluation, and the remaining time will be used for therapy. There is a parking space behind the building, but parking is also available in front of the building. Come to the door and we will buzz you in.
How long should my session be?
Most of our clients book 60 minute sessions. It allows us the proper amount of time to work with each muscle involved in your pain. But some times, depending on the severity of the case, more time may be needed. However, we stress the point that consistency is better than quantity, meaning that we prefer to see clients more often with less time, than seeing them more sporadically with longer sessions.
What should I wear during an NMT session?
You can keep your comfortable clothes on. Our clients come in wearing yoga pants, shorts, sweat pants, tank-tops, and t-shirts. However, we also see clients in professional attire who come in during lunch time, or right after work.
How will I feel after my first session?
The vast majority of our clients feel the most relief 24 hours after the first session. They report waking up feeling better, less tight, and with more range of motion (ROM). However, some clients feel this relief 48 hours after the first session. The key of success with NMT is based on consistency. Sessions capitalize on the success of the previous ones.
How often should I reschedule my NMT sessions?
Sessions are divided in ITPs (Initial Treatment Phase) and SMPs (Sequential Maintenance Phase). ITPs are comprised of 3 to 5 sessions, being one session per week, and vary according to the severity of the case. The SMPs (Sequential Maintenance Phase) are sessions that keep in place what we treated during the ITPs. SMPs can vary from one session every two weeks, to one session every three weeks, or one session every four weeks (these SMPs also vary according to the cases being treated).
How old do I need to be to receive NMT sessions?
We see clients as young as 11, as old as 85, and everybody in between.
